A Green Light for Clean Energy: Varme Secures AUC Approval

The Alberta Utilities Commission (AUC) has officially greenlit Varme Energy’s plan to build a waste-to-energy facility in Strathcona County. This approval marks a major milestone in bringing clean energy innovation to Alberta.

Who is the AUC?

The AUC is Alberta’s independent regulator responsible for approving new power generation projects. Without its approval, no power plant can be built or operated in the province. The AUC’s approval of Varme’s permit marks an important step in making this project a reality.

What this means for Varme’s future

With the AUC’s green light, Varme is now focused on finalizing commercials and financing to enable shovels to hit the ground.
